Session 1: "Agile Data Warehousing Overview"
By Ralph Hughes, Chief Systems Architect, Ceregenics, Inc
|
|
|
Abstract:
While Agile approaches for the development of transaction- and data capture-applications
have been around since before the publication of the Agile Manifesto 10 years ago,
employing Agile methods such as Scrum and XP to build large, data-driven systems
such as data warehouses is new. New, but luckily, just as effective. This introduction
will provide an overview of how agile concepts can be applied to data warehousing
and business intelligence projects to significantly shorten the development cycle
from traditional waterfall-based methods. We will outline the key differences in
the pivotal areas of team collaboration, requirements gathering, and quality assurance.
We will finish by examining the combination of agile methods with next-generation
DW/BI tools to achieve maximum speed-to-market through "back filling" the warehouse
architecture.
The "big up-front" paradigm is a thing of the past that grievously misallocates
resources. The solution: focus on the true generator of value within every project
and optimize outwardly from there.

Session 2: "Agile BI - a new way to meet BI Demands"
By Nate Moore, Vice President at Centene Corporation
|
|
|
Abstract:
Centene has adopted the Agile BI methodology to meet the growing demands of data
and BI faster. The traditional BI approach was constraining the speed with which
data and reports could be delivered to users to make business decisions. To fit
the demands Centene adopted the agile methodology to accelerate the development,
testing, and deployment of BI projects and reduce risks while offering quick responses
to end users need.
In this event, Nathan Moore will discuss frequent Agile BI challenges and how to
overcome them to deliver continuous valuable data, reporting, and analytics iteratively.
You will learn:
- What is Agile BI?
- Why Agile BI is essential to meet the needs of BI users quickly?
- How Agile BI can be used in a large organization?
