Big Data Saves Michigan $1 Million Each Business Day

Big Data is saving the state of Michigan $1 million each business day, while consolidating 40 data centers into three saved $19 million the first year. Cynthia Edwards, director of Medicaid health information technology, said that the Medicaid savings have been measured by the Department of Community Health for the state of Michigan, which achieved the savings by billing Medicaid patients’ existing insurance plans when they had them, using death records to recover payments made to clients who had died, and reducing fraud.

MDM Hits a High Note

Revenue for the master data management market is expected to hit $1.9 billion in 2012, its largest annual growth in four years, according to industry estimates from Gartner.
In its report, “Forecast: Master Data Management, Worldwide, 2010-2015,” the research and advisory firm predicts a 21 percent increase in MDM revenue from 2011. By 2015, MDM revenue is anticipated to swell another 40 percent to $3.2 billion. Regionally, the U.S. and Europe will lead the MDM market, though the fastest rate of MDM software revenue growth will be in Asia by 2013.

Analytics in 2012 Backs Big Data, Cloud Trends – Davenport and IIA forecast: predictive and unstructured capabilities taken on by more enterprises

Big data analytics will top all other areas of growth in analytics during 2012 due to the rapid expansion of social, mobile, location and transaction-based data taken in by various industries, according to predictions from the International Institute for Analytics.
